Last week, I had the pleasure of finally dining at the Mitsiam Cafe in the National Museum of the American Indian. The cafe has won numerous awards, including the most recent “Best Casual Dining Restaurant” at the Rammy’s 2012.
The Cafe is located on the first floor of the museum and is set up almost like a Whole Foods cafe (divided by region). There were so many choices, I had the hardest time deciding what to eat. I ended up getting the buffalo ribs, with cactus and wild rice salad on the side. And since I was feeling like a hungry monster, I also decided to get some agua fresca and a key lime tart. All of which were delicious. I was most surprised by the cactus, by far my favorite item. This is a definite must try if you are visiting Washington, D.C.
